For those few inquisitive souls who wonder who's strange enough to set up a web page about fountain pen inks, I offer the following.
I'm a pen collector by hobby, a retired Chiropractor by profession and an incorrigible tinkerer by nature. I lived in the San Francisco bay area with my wife and daughter for 30 years but recently moved to Alabama. In what spare time I have, I play and build Taiko Drums and am building an addition onto my house.
I have been a devoted user of fountain pens since I started Chiropractic college in 1978 and I still use them on a daily basis for writing notes. My favorite pens all have either very flexible nibs for roundhand script or stub nibs for italic style writing. I have tried to learn to use these in an attempt to overcome "writing like a doctor". My daily use ink is "The Ink From Hell". Those who have recent copies of my book know what I am talking about.
My interest in inks was an outgrowth of a series of heated discussions on the old
AOL pen collectors board, involving the perceived dangers of different inks due
to high acidity or rapid drying times. The issues brought up lead me to do some
ink research of my own. Much of this information was been published in
Pen World International Magazine and copies of the article are in the Sampler. I am currently a staff writer for Stylus Magazine.
I hope you have enjoyed your visit. Please bookmark my site and revisit here
often as I intend to expand the information available here.
